I began my career in the animal nutrition industry with AHB, where I worked in feed ingredient sales. That role gave me the opportunity to learn the industry from the ground up by speaking with customers, studying ingredient markets, and understanding what it takes to earn business in a competitive market.
Early in my career, I learned that knowing the product is only one part of the job. Customers also need someone who understands timing, availability, freight, risk, communication, and execution. Those lessons shaped the way I continue to work today.
As I gained experience at AHB, I moved from a Sales Representative position into a Sales Manager role. My responsibilities expanded from developing my own accounts to helping grow the broader business, manage larger customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and think more strategically about sales and market development.
My time at AHB taught me how to:
• Build customer relationships from the beginning
• Develop new business through consistent outreach
• Manage large and complex customer accounts
• Understand the feed ingredient supply chain
• Communicate during changing market conditions
• Balance customer needs with company objectives
• Lead sales growth and account strategy
• Learn from both successful opportunities and lost business
I later joined Devenish Nutrition, where I have been able to build on those experiences and continue growing within the industry. My work today allows me to combine ingredient sales, account management, market knowledge, and relationship development while working with a strong organization and experienced team.
Each position has taught me something different, but the most important lesson has remained the same. Long term success comes from treating people well, understanding their business, communicating honestly, and doing what you say you are going to do.
